We have made the difficult decision to sunset the Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC). The world has changed since GSVC launched two decades ago, with social impact efforts in business and on campuses going from niche to mainstream. We firmly believe we’ve played a role in shaping this change, and are very proud to have helped more than 6,500 teams from 65+ countries across the globe and distributed more than $1M in prize money.

Every year, since 1999, the Global Social Venture Competion, launched by UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, awarded young impact entrepreneurs whose business ideas combine high return on investment and a social or environmental impact.
At the Global Finals, an international jury made of business angels, social venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and academicians evaluated pitches and business models on the basis of:

Lebanon | FabricAID created a system for collecting, recycling and redistributing second-hand clothes through an online platform and "smart" bins
Thailand | Fresh Shrimp Farm developed an innovative system of water treatment and depuration for shrimp farming
Sweden | Heartstrings is a non-invasive technology allowing an early detection and diagnosis of cardio-vascular illnesses
Italy | Helperbit created a system that facilitates immediate, transparent and trackable economic aid, through geodata and blockchain technology
Hong Kong | HEYCOINS’ kiosks turn coins into virtual currency, which can be used for online purchases or charity donations
France | Konexio offers ITC courses to refugees to promote their social integration and give them job skills
Philippines | Land Title Solutions provides an integrated estate management service that resolves unclean titles
Italy | mEryLo’ developed a device that can load anti-cancer medicines in the patient’s red blood cells and consequently reduces the risk of infection and improves the patient's quality of life
Uganda | Musana Carts supports micro-businesses with street vending carts based on solar energy
India | NeMo.Care developed an integrated, portable, low-cost monitoring system for newborns
USA | NeMo educates mothers from rural and isolated regions so as to allow them to identify neonatal diseases and have their babies cured
Turkey | Önemsiyoruz means "we care": it designs and creates products for children from disadvantaged backgrounds
Turkey | Reflect is an activist clothing brand: it uses fashion as a means of social change and as a way to discuss about relevant topics such as women empowerment and refugees' rights.
