The sustainability of meat and cured meats is increasingly at the center of attention of consumers and policy-makers. In the face of numerous analyses and surveys on the sustainability profiles (mainly understood in an environmental sense) of the supply chain as a whole, however, there is little information available on the choices made by Italian companies in the sector to integrate sustainability into their activities.
To this end, in continuity with the sectoral reports conducted on large-scale distribution and the olive-oil sector for the Innovation and Sustainability Cycle, ALTIS Università Cattolica in collaboration with Progetto VIS - Valore Impresa Sostenibile and OPERA - European Observatory for Sustainable Agriculture has analyzed environmental strategies and policies, implemented by 46 companies in the meat and cured meats supply chain, through a reconnaissance of web communication and non-financial reporting.
The presentation of the report will be an opportunity to reflect with key stakeholders in the sector on the state of the art and future prospects for sustainable development.
