CONFERENCE 27 January 2026

Corporate governance and sustainability in FTSE companies MIB: the strategic role of Sustainability Manager

Presentation of the PRIN research project "GOST – Governance of Sustainable Transition" and the volume "Corporate governance and sustainability – The governance of sustainability in large Italian listed companies", in collaboration with Luiss Guido Carli University.

In a context in which the expectations of investors, stakeholders and policymakers on transparency, accountability and sustainable success are constantly growing, the role of the Sustainability Manager (SM) becomes increasingly strategic in guiding the evolution of best practices. The meeting explores how MS caninfluence decision-making processes, risk management models, sustainability goal setting and stakeholder dialogue, contributing to a more integrated and long-term corporate governance. Through peer comparisons, application examples and cross-sector perspectives, the conference will offer concrete tools to strengthen collaboration between corporate functions, improve alignment between ESG objectives and corporate strategies and promote a culture of responsibility that creates value for the company, society and the environment.

The event will also be an opportunity to present the results of the PRIN research project "GOST – Governance of Sustainable Transition" (PNRR for Mission 4, Component 2, Investment 1.1. Notice 1409/2022, Funded by the European Union - Next Generation EU) and the volume "Corporate governance and sustainability - The governance of sustainability in large Italian listed companies", published by EGEA, edited by Profs. Minciullo (Catholic University of the Sacred Heart) and Zattoni (Luiss Guido Carli University).

ABSTRACT OF THE VOLUME

Corporate governance and corporate social responsibility are rapidly converging due to pressures from evolving regulations and growing expectations from stakeholders, including institutional investors. This volume aims to deepen the knowledge of this topic, through the analysis of governance models and organizational processes that companies adopt to ensure sustainable success. The volume includes both the transversal analysis of the corporate governance, sustainability governance and human resources management models adopted by the largest listed Italian companies, and the description of the practices, processes and results of sustainability management by the managers of the companies included in the FTSE MIB. The volume is a useful tool for all those (academics, managers and investors) who deal with governance and sustainability.
