We study and investigate sustainability and its integration into the business to improve competitiveness.
Research is the engine that powers all of ALTIS' activity. Our activities are concentrated in three areas: sustainability, impact entrepreneurship and sustainable growth in Africa, with a particular focus on intersection areas.

Research at ALTIS is enriched by the teaching and consultancy activities carried out by its faculty and researchers through:
ALTIS Graduate School of Sustainable Management at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, which promotes a culture of sustainability and disseminates best practices in entrepreneurship and management for sustainable development.
ALTIS Advisory SB, an ALTIS spin-off established in 2022, which supports organisations and businesses in their sustainability transition.
E4Impact Foundation, an ALTIS spin-off established in 2015 with the support of leading Italian companies. Originally launched by ALTIS during its early years, the Foundation provides training and coaching for high-impact entrepreneurs across Africa.
For more than twenty years, ALTIS has been advancing knowledge in the fields of corporate sustainability and impact entrepreneurship, combining academic rigour with an applied approach to support businesses and institutions. Over the years, we have also developed extensive expertise in strengthening Africa's entrepreneurial ecosystem, where we have been working continuously since 2010.
We believe that scientific research is essential for observing, understanding and interpreting complex phenomena. It enables us to explore new areas of knowledge and generate fresh insights into emerging challenges.
Our research is organised into two complementary streams:
Basic research, focused on developing theoretical frameworks and producing findings that contribute to the international academic debate.
Applied research, which translates knowledge into practical solutions, helping businesses and organisations integrate sustainability into their strategies, governance and day-to-day operations.
Research is a key asset for participants in our educational programmes, giving them access to the latest theories as well as practical insights drawn from the projects developed by our researchers.
By combining a global perspective with a strong understanding of local contexts, we generate impact through knowledge.
