CONFERENCE 27 January 2026
Corporate governance and sustainability in FTSE companies MIB: the strategic role of Sustainability Manager
Presentation of the PRIN research project "GOST – Governance of Sustainable Transition" and the volume "Corporate governance and sustainability – The governance of sustainability in large Italian listed companies", in collaboration with Luiss Guido Carli University.
In a context where the expectations of investors, stakeholders and policymakers regarding transparency, accountability and long-term sustainable success continue to grow, the role of the Sustainability Manager (SM) is becoming increasingly strategic in driving the evolution of corporate best practices.
This event will explore how Sustainability Managers can influence decision-making processes, risk management frameworks, sustainability target setting and stakeholder engagement, contributing to more integrated and forward-looking corporate governance. Through discussions among peers, practical case studies and cross-sector perspectives, participants will gain practical insights into strengthening collaboration across business functions, aligning ESG objectives with corporate strategy, and fostering a culture of responsibility that creates lasting value for businesses, society and the environment.
The event will also provide an opportunity to present the findings of the PRIN research project "GOST – Governance of Sustainable Transition" (PNRR – Mission 4, Component 2, Investment 1.1, Call No. 1409/2022, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU) and the book Corporate Governance and Sustainability – Sustainability Governance in Large Italian Listed Companies, published by EGEA and edited by Professors Marco Minciullo (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore) and Alessandro Zattoni (Luiss Guido Carli University).
Abstract of the book
Corporate governance and corporate sustainability are converging rapidly as a result of evolving regulations and increasing expectations from stakeholders, particularly institutional investors. This volume examines the governance models and organisational processes that companies adopt to achieve long-term sustainable success.
It presents both a cross-sector analysis of the corporate governance, sustainability governance and human resource management models adopted by Italy's largest listed companies, and first-hand accounts from sustainability managers working within FTSE MIB companies, illustrating their practices, processes and results.
The volume is intended as a valuable resource for academics, managers and investors with an interest in corporate governance and sustainability.
