This is the title of the conference to be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in the Pius XI Hall of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, in Milan. The meeting is promoted by the Mariuccia Asylum Foundation in partnership with ALTIS Università Cattolica and takes place under the patronage of the Lombardy Region, the Municipality of Milan and Uneba Lombardia.
Scenario
In Lombardy there are 140 thousand young people between the ages of 15 and 29 who do not study and do not work; Italy is the second country in Europe, after Romania, in terms of the number of young people who have graduated from every study and work circuit. Youth distress is growing and mental health problems are at 71%. There are more than 18.5 thousand unaccompanied minors in 2024: 57% are 17 years old and 88% are young boys. This is revealed by several studies by MSNA, MLPS 2024, Neet Eurostat, Istat Youth Distress, Cnr Youth Distress Study.
In action
Faced with this situation, a few months ago the Lombardy Region launched the call "Zeroneet: networks of opportunities for employment and skills" together with Fondazione Cariplo and Intesa Sanpaolo to offer orientation, training and job placement paths through integrated territorial networks with the aim of involving 20,000 young people and countering youth inactivity in Lombardy. For its part, Fondazione Asilo Mariuccia, which has been committed to equal opportunities and the care of women victims of violence for over 100 years, has also launched some projects in favor of NEETs, Not in Education, Employment or Training.
Programme of work
The conference "With young people, against violence" will be an important moment of discussion dedicated to the problem of NEETs. The meeting will be attended by various stakeholders and concrete examples of innovative social projects that address this emergency will be presented. The goal will be to enhance the work and results of these experiences and, at the same time, highlight how essential it is to continue to train competent people in this field.
