ALUMNI'S TESTIMONIES

...NEVER ENDING CONTACT & OPPORTUNITIES

July 20, 2009

Dear Professor Molteni,

It's me Joseph Tetteh, one of your students from Ghana who participated in the Altis MBA programme last year. I trust you are doing very fine as always. I am also fine back here in Ghana, my home country.

Sir, since I returned back to Ghana after the successful completion of my programme in your university, securing long and lasting job has been very challenging here in Ghana so I was compelled to collaborate with some consultancy firms in Ghana. I have also successfully established a company called Greenwaves International (Gh) Limited (GIGL) with all necessary documentations secured and available. This company is strongly tilted towards environmental( including renewable energy initiatives), educational , business management consultancy and rural development activities. We are also developing our first major project although quite small.....

(from an e mail)Joseph Tetteh with Prof Molteni and David Crackett, Partner Deloitte and President of the British Chamber of Commerce for Italy

In January 2010 GREENWAVES INTERNATIONAL won the first prize of the Italian Round of the GLOBAL SOCIAL VENTURE COMPETITION (GSVC).

Italian and European business faces an ever mounting competitive challenge from BRIC countries and emerging economies. The direct encounter that occurs in the person of the student with these two realities enhances the possibility of a collaboration that can positively affect both the economic progress of new markets and the competitive stance of European business.

The MBA prepares participants to become:

  • Managers in an Italian or European company that has established or intends to establish a presence abroad (particularly in the participant's native country)
  • Managers in a company of the participant's country that is involved in an internationalization process in Italy and Europe
  • Young entrepreneurs who want to develop a new business capable to be international in a short time.

Access to markets and market players, access to sources of development capital, contact with businesses directly interested in the participant's native country, intercultural trust and understanding are all within reach of the student enrolled in the MBA "Global Business and Sustainability"

Action Project

The MBA program includes a three-month Action Project.

The ALTIS network of companies, financial institutions, industry clusters and Chambers of Commerce allows for the structuring of an Action Project customized to the specific interests of each participant. In particular, students will be involved with Italian firms that are operating or are planning to operate in their countries of origin.

The goal of the Action Project is to offer participants:

  • Firsthand experience of real world business issues and solutions
  • The opportunity to initiate contacts for future business and partnerships.

Action Project alternatives:

  • Individual internship in an enterprise (in Italy or abroad)
  • Development of a business plan for a start-up
  • Consultancy offered in teams for European or foreign enterprises
  • Research study in an area covered in the MBA program

ALTIS is dedicated to fostering the development of its students and partnering with employers interested in the development of the student's native country.

Accommodation

Some tips on accommodation solutions

IMPORTANT NOTE: ALTIS and the Università Cattolica are not responsible for the content of the external sites indicated below and for the services offered.

ROOMS IN APARTMENTS:
Milan offers a wide range of lodging opportunities in apartments (generally rooms). You can find single and double rooms with the use of a common kitchen. Internet connection is not always included, while you generally have washing machines at your disposal.
You may sometimes be asked to bring your own bed linens and blankets (or you can buy them here for few euros). Bath towels are never included.
You can find your room through agencies specialized in students accommodations, on web portals or on the University Adv board.
If you choose to stay in an apartment you may have to spend between 350 € (double room) and 470 € (single room) € per month for a room.

Generally a 2/3 months advanced deposit is required at your arrival or prior to it (transferred directly from your country). Provided you haven't caused any damage to the flat, the deposit will be returned to you at your departure.

STUDENT DORMITORIES:
The average price for a room in a dormitory is quite high (from 500 to 700 € per month) but you have additional services which are not always present in apartments. (Internet point, bed linens, study room, internal cafeteria etc).

You are generally requested to pay a 2/3 months advanced deposit (500/600 € at least). Availability at students dorms is generally very limited, so check for availability in advance.

TEMPORARY ACCOMMODATION:
You can choose to stay in a youth hostel for the first days in Milan and look for a permanent accommodations once you are here.

LOCATIONS:
Apartments and private dormitories are generally not in the immediate vicinity of the University campus. The Campus is located in the very centre of Milan where availability for students is very limited and rents are very expensive. The suggested accommodation opportunities are generally in the Milan urban area and the University can be reached through the public transportation network.

ALTIS can support participants in finding an appropriate accomodation in apartment rooms (generally shared double rooms) or in other facilites.
