Lazarus Mukasa, MBA alumnus and winner of second prize at the GSVC 2010, has succeeded in launching his project: ST. MARK COMMUNITY HEALTH Service.
This Social Business Idea was presented during the 2nd edition of the Global Social Venture Competition and was awarded second prize by the jury. As a direct result, the project caught the attention of the Social Venture Capitalist Group who are now involved in the funding of the initiative.
The ST. MARK COMMUNITY HEALTH Service is a network of mobile clinics created to respond to the health needs of the poorest sectors of developing countries, starting with Uganda.
The health service, with the aid of innovative mobile clinics, is designed to provide quality frontline treatment to those sections of the population whose location far from urban centres denies them access to basic medical care. The service is aimed specifically at women and children and focuses on the treatment of malaria, tubercolosis, brucellosis, typhoid and dental hygiene, as well providing preventative care for other tropical diseases and HIV/AIDS.
